I often explore one subject in a variety of media and sizes. East Davis Lake Campground in central Oregon is one of these subjects that I can paint again and again, with a different feeling and results each time. In this version, made with gouache paints on heavy watercolor paper, the feeling is more intense, with saturated colors that speak of heat and summer. Can you hear the murmur of Odell Creek as it glides through the grassy plain to join with Davis Lake?
Bald eagles and people compete for trout, I've sometimes seen eagles swoop down daring to attempt a steal. Sandhill cranes used to nest here, but there have not been any in this location since the large wildfire swept through.
The painting is 8x12 inches, and comes with a mat in a clear envelope. The outside dimensions of the mat are 12x16 inches.
