From the series: Fall River Campground 2015. This is a clear river that springs from the ground cold and pure. The soil beneath the water influences the color of the river, as of course do the reflections. I have been fascinated by the modulations of color in the river as observed at the Fall River Campground. This painting may be somewhat exaggerated for emphasis, yet it is "true" to my memories and feelings about it. I love that art can express individual truths and feelings! I also love to suggest figures, anonymous people, to show the scale, and to add to the human experience of the special places in my state of Oregon. It is a big place, and we are small by contrast, but we are a part of it not separate from the land, so it is not a frightening feeling to be small by comparison.
The painting is made with watercolor and gouache (opaque watercolor) on watercolor paper. It is a lovely combination of materials, I feel liberated by it!
