In the high plateau that is central Oregon, spring brings in the color slowly, first the grasses near the water's edge, then the sap runs and colors the aspen branches with red orange and yellow green, even a muted red. I spent many happy days at East Davis Lake Campground, where Odell Creek meanders through the plain, to merge with Davis Lake. A wildfire several years ago cleared out much of the vegetation, opening the view of the Cascade peaks to the north. I have spent time each year recording the regrowth of this beautiful spot, with drawings, sketches, paintings and photographs. It is the place I go to experience peace.
The subject of this painting is the view to the north, where the Cascade Mountains rise against the plain, seemingly "out of the blue." This view will not be there for many more years, the trees and shrubs are regenerating and will one day completely block the view -- it has been a privilege to see this spectacular view, presented by a wildfire! This is an ever-changing paradise!
The painting is offered with or without a frame, according to the buyers choice. If you choose to buy it framed, there are two choices of frame color: natural and black. Both are light weight wood. It ships without additional cost to United States locations.
